Rabbi Moish & Tanya Blum

Rabbi Moish and Tanya Blum have been serving as the Chaplaincy couple for Oxford since 2024, bringing their shared passion for Jewish education and community support to the university environment. Both hailing from North West London, they grew up just a ten-minute walk from each other and later settled in Borehamwood after marriage.

Moish dedicated several years to intensive Jewish studies, attending yeshivot in the UK and  Israel. He also pursued a degree in Economics and Finance from the University of London, studying through the London School of Economics. Before joining Chaplaincy, he was involved with the Borehamwood Kollel (seminary), engaging in outreach and community work alongside his final year of university studies.

Tanya spent a year in seminary at Michlalah in Jerusalem before returning to London to study Occupational Therapy at Brunel University, from which she recently graduated. She has taught Jewish studies at Yavneh College and began working for the NHS as an occupational therapist in late 2024.

In their Chaplaincy roles, the Blums are committed to supporting Jewish students throughout their university journey. Having personally benefited from Chaplaincy support during their own studies, they understand its profound impact and are eager to provide similar assistance. They enjoy engaging in meaningful conversations, hosting events, and fostering a sense of community. Their goal is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive at university and to be proud of their Jewish identity, regardless of where life takes them.

Beyond their chaplaincy duties, Moish enjoys playing the piano, building IKEA furniture, and is an avid sports fan. Tanya has interests in Muay Thai (kickboxing), learning more about Judaism, plants, nature, and shopping.
